It is 1942, America has entered World War II, and sickly but determined Steve Rogers is frustrated at being rejected yet again for military service. Everything changes when Dr. Erskine recruits him for the secret Project Rebirth. Proving his extraordinary courage, wits and conscience, Rogers undergoes the experiment and his weak body is suddenly enhanced into the maximum human potential. When Dr. Erskine is then immediately assassinated by an agent of Nazi Germany's secret HYDRA research department (headed by Johann Schmidt, a.k.a. the Red Skull), Rogers is left as a unique man who is initially misused as a propaganda mascot; however, when his comrades need him, Rogers goes on a successful adventure that truly makes him Captain America, and his war against Schmidt begins.
For Steve Rogers, awakening after decades of suspended animation involves more than catching up on pop culture; it also means that this old school idealist must face a world of subtler threats and difficult moral complexities. That comes clear when Director Nick Fury is killed by the mysterious assassin, the Winter Soldier, but not before warning Rogers that SHIELD has been subverted by its enemies. When Rogers acts on Fury's warning to trust no one there, he is branded as a traitor by the organization. Now a fugitive, Captain America must get to the bottom of this deadly mystery with the help of the Black Widow and his new friend, The Falcon. However, the battle will be costly for the Sentinel of Liberty, with Rogers finding enemies where he least expects them while learning that the Winter Soldier looks disturbingly familiar.

Steve meandered through the newly named Avengers tower formally called Stark tower, he stopped at one of the windows looking out over the dark but still active city it was all so different, to when he had been born and grew up, though being defrosted for 2 years helped him grasp the changes he still couldn't quite believe that it was the same as when he had been a kid. He couldn't sleep, the nightmares of the first war was still so fresh in his mind even though it had been 70 years for the rest of man kind, it felt like he had just finished that war, before being thrust into another one against aliens which where supposed to be the thing of legends, not really, though he supposed that you could say the same about the super solder serum which he had been injected with by the good doctor, who had been killed minutes after the serum had been injected. Then there had been the long hard war, the loss of Bucky which had almost killed him, them the plunge into the ice, he had thought it was going to kill him he had to admit that he sort of hoped it had. Then the shocking betrayal of S.H.I.E.L.D which had been intertwined with Hydra, made him doubt all he had been told, how could he trust anyone? Especially when it turned out that they had brainwashed his once best friend Bucky? They might had been working for the people that had caused him to go into the Ice. He sighed heavily his eyes dropping closed as he rested his head against the glass in front of him, the reappearance of his best friend had thrown him, all the memories of their childhood together and when he had lost him, the horrible feeling of not getting to him in time.
